EXHIBITION:Floating into the Ocean

UAE-based artist Anja Bamberg concludes her First Solo Residency at Tashkeel Al Fahidi with an exhibition of a new body of work focusing on the subject of sustainability. Having grown up by the sea, water has been the main subject of her visual art practice for the last 20 years. Recently, she has started experimenting with non-traditional materials to draw attention to the advancing climate crisis. Anja repurposes waste-paper into a series of abstract paintings exploring the colour spectrum of blue and the important role of wind.

Anja Bamberg is an artist and art therapist with a MA in Art and Design Therapy. She boldly reaches for colour and enjoys the sheen of oil on canvas. In large-format paintings, she is always looking for the greatest possible contrast without losing sight of the aesthetic approach. Her art is characterised by works oriented to her current environment. Her Baltic roots have had a strong influence; maybe that’s why the sea has always been an essential part of her practice over the last 20 years. Anja Bamberg is a member of Tashkeel.

Tashkeel’s pop-up store presents a range of affordable accessories and homeware including latest Made in Tashkeel sketchbook and poster series. Choose from products by artists Mouza Al Hamrani, Wissam Shawkat, Maitha Demithan, Nasir Nasrallah, Yosra Emamizadeh, Ibraheem Khamayseh, Alonsa Guevara and eL Seed.

Open studios bring the artist and public together. Every day will offer an opportunity to view the working environments of Victor Sitali, Mike Arnold, Asma Baker & Abdallah Lutfi, Lia Staehlin and Natalya Konforti and witness their specialist skills in fine art, jewellery and illustration.

Drop in to the Tashkeel House 10 and make, create, discover through a range of drop-in workshops exploring painting, papermaking and drawing and much more, all led by experienced teaching-artists. Open to all ages.
